The article examines international legal approaches to countering extremism. The role of the United Nations is analyzed, and international institutions and normative documents aimed at combating extremism are listed. A legal assessment of the activities of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is given, highlighting its main directions in the fight against extremism. A comparative legal analysis of the legislation of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, particularly the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, is carried out regarding the improvement of their regulatory frameworks for countering extremism. Certain aspects of Kazakhstan’s international cooperation in combating informational extremism are also considered.
